Gordon Brindley

It is with deep sadness that Moseley C.C. report the passing of Gordon Brindley the President of the club at the age of 82. Joining Moseley from Warwickshire Schoolboys in 1954, Gordon started his career at the old ground at Moorlands before the move to the current ground at Streetsbrook Road. As well as a long playing career, Gordon served the club tirelessly having been on committee for nearly 50 years, first as Assistant Treasurer and then as Treasurer. His financial expertise and prudence was instrumental in developing the club from what was a field into the facility it is today.

Gordon became club President in 1994, a position he still held and he was also League President in 1996. A passionate supporter of the Birmingham League and all its traditions, he will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Our thoughts are with his wife of 55 years, Sherley and sons Adrian, Stuart and Andrew as well as grandchildren Grace and Harry.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 19th May at 12.30 pm. Due to current social restrictions, the cortege will travel a circuit of the cricket ground at Moseley so people will be able to pay their respects whilst being able to keep the appropriate distance from each other. Those wishing to do so should be at the ground no later than midday.

Coronavirus Planning – Latest Advice

The statement on Monday from the Government has obviously had serious repercussions for cricket, officiating and ECB ACO. The ECB statement has now released a statement which is now recommending that all recreational cricket is suspended. Here is a link to the statement – https://ecb-comms.co.uk/1FT6-6SKA2-FAL1CBNJ2E/cr.aspx

With regard to ECB ACO, please note the following:

  • Edgbaston Office

The ACO team will be working from home for the foreseeable future but if you have any queries, we can still be contacted on the normal number – 0121 446 2710. We will not be able to take any payments over the phone but we should be able to do everything else for you.

  • Members Communications

It is the intention to publish the pre-season edition of the magazine as usual but potentially with some form of insert that can be included at the last minute with the latest information. After that ECB ACO intends to send Over & Outs on a frequent basis so that we maintain regular communication and support for the members.

It goes without saying that we are living in uncertain times in what is an unprecedented situation. As circumstances change or the position becomes clearer we will let you know.

Be safe
